The Invicta Kit Car challenge is a new series of double header challenge races for Sports Kit Cars such as Lotus 7s, Caterhams , Westfields, Sylvas etc at all SEMSEC’s Lydden event.
The proposed format is for the first race to be scratch race and the second to be a handicap race. The series will build on the success of SEMSEC’s South East Sports Racing and Kit Car Challenge races and will use the South East Challenge to provide the first race at each meeting for this new series.
Cars registered for Invicta Kit Car Challenge will be entered in classes C & D of the South East Challenge race and will score points towards the Invicta Kit Car Challenge. The result for these cars in the South East Challenge race will form the basis to decide the grid and the handicap competitors take forward for the Invicta Kit Car Challenge race. This race is only open to kit cars and all sports racing cars in the results of the first race will be ignored. An adjustment made for any cars which spin, fail to finish or have other difficulties which delay them in the first race. Any cars which don’t finish the first race will start behind the fastest eligible car in classes C & D of the South East Challenge race (effectively the back of the grid because of the handicap).
Practice/qualifying for the Invicta Kit Car Challenge will be shared with the practice/qualifying for the South East Sports Racing & Kit Car Challenge race. Points will be awarded for the finishing position in the first race according to class position, however because the second race is a handicap race the points will be awarded on the basis of overall finishing position. The competitors who amass the three highest points total (subject to number of starters) over the two races at any one event will be awarded the trophies. SEMSEC organisers are hoping that this new series will appeal to the club’s existing kit car competitors who have been asking for their own races and will encourage some new participants to take part and enjoy this exciting new challenge in SEMSEC 2011’s programme.
