A Lydden based series of six races for smaller capacity two wheel drive normally aspirated saloons and hatchbacks.
There will be two classes. Class A cars for up to 1400cc cars and Class B for cars between 1401cc and 1600cc. The organisers are also considering handicapping the larger capacity class cars by applying a 20 or 25 second handicap delay to the start of class B cars.
Awards will be based on overall finishing position and class winner.
Cars must be based on a production saloon or hatchback, they must have a steel body, wings, boot and bonnet may be replaced by lighter weight material such as fibre glass, but the car must retain the bodyshell silhouette of the original production marque/model in side elevation. The engine block and cylinder head must be identifiable as that fitted to the original model. Choice of tyres is free within MSA regulations for racing cars.
SEMSEC organisers are hoping that this series will appeal to competitors in some of the smaller capacity but often more nimble cars such as Minis, Fiesta, Metros which are so suited to racing at Lydden. Currently these cars don’t have their own races at SEMSEC events and often have to race with larger more powerful cars. This new series will provide a competitive series for the smaller capacity cars.
It is also hoped that this will appeal to competitors where budgets are tight particularly as for this introductory year entry fees will be set at just £120 for a 10 lap race and 12 minutes practice/qualifying.
CLASSES:
| Class A | up to 1400cc cars |
| Class B | cars between 1401cc and 1600cc |
